Being a Volunteer...
Place Based Services Partners have been invited to forward quotes, comments, experiences and photographs regards volunteering and the impact of volunteering:

West Cumbria Carers...
The role of a volunteer is a service Not a Friendship! (you have to keep reminding yourself).  Since I have become a volunteer for West Cumbria Carers (WCC) my life has changed completely.  After my husband died it was difficult to fill my days, as I was retired and at a loose end.  It was a chat that Clare Edwards gave about her work for WCC that sparked an interest.  It has been nearly two years now I have been a volunteer, and I have done more, achieved more, in that time than I ever found possible.  It has put me in so many different situations, which has given me a lot more confidence in my abilities.  I used to be shy and didn't mix easily with people, but it has helped me to overcome this and I now face every new challenge with a positive attitude.

Age UK West Cumbria...
"I have been a volunteer for Age UK West Cumbria for a relatively short time and am enjoying meeting new people.  All of the staff are really friendly, helpful and approachable, so I have settled in quickly and feel more confident in myself.  I enjoy being part of the team  and being based on Reception.  I like the flexibility of being able to choose my hours and how long want to volunteer for on any particular day.  The large variety of calls and enquiries makes my time really interesting, and as Age UK West Cumbria are a large organisation there are all sorts of other volunteering opportunities that I may be involved in in the future".
