Summer Update 2014...
Introducing Carers' Meets - West Cumbria Carers are pleased to announce the start of their new programme of Carers Meets and aims to hold two Free Carers Meets a month.  Each event will have a "market place" where there will be lots of stands with information and staff from various organisations that could offer you supportThe Carers Meets will focus on one condition each month and will have workshops and guest speakers providing information - transport and respite may be provided if required:


August - Focusing on dementia
14th August Christ Church Cockermouth
21st August Egremont Methodist Church

September - Focusing on Physical Disability
10th September Age UK Workington
18th September Harbour Youth Project Workington

Home Group... are seeking volunteers to help out in their Customer Resource Centre at their King Street office Wigton.
 
Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings...volunteers should have basic IT skills and be able to support Customers to carry out job searches, apply for benefits, prepare CV’s and other basic IT tasks.

Trustee Board Members
Managed locally and with the benefit of being part of a large national organisation CAB Copeland are looking for trustees to sit on their trustee board and help steer the service.

CAB is a voluntary organisation which provides information, advice and advocacy services to the people of Copeland...all volunteers are fully trained and supported.

CAB are looking for people to help manage and develop this much-needed service...

become Gateway Assessors
 
The gateway approach helps clients to be quickly assessed and their issues
progressed to the most appropriate next stage.  As a Gateway assessor you will explore the clients problem(s) and situation, assess the risk/urgency of the client's issue and their ability to deal with the problem themselves, identify the next steps to be taken and summarise the content of the interview for the client
and explain what happens next.
